It’s no secret I have wanted a Helix for a loooooooooong time. It seems to be a a love it or hate it scooter with enthusiasts. Personally I always liked its radical 80’s styling. It’s long, low, and reminds me of a Star Wars Speeder Bike from the Empire Strikes Back.
The Helix is legendary for it’s comfortable ride and reliability. There are Helix’ on the internet with around 100,000 miles on them. They can achieve interstate speeds, carry two people, and return around 70 mpg.
I sold the Scout last week with the plan of getting a 250 cc class scooter. After combing UncleHenry’s and Craigslist this was the one I decided on. It’s a well cared for 1999 with 14k miles on it.
The Helix has a very distinct derriere, within which resides one of the most cavernous storage areas ever to grace a scooter.

The dash is all digital and totally 80’s Sci-Fi looking. Not that easy to read in daylight but simple and easy to understand.

So took the whole family for short rides around the neighborhood tonight and now the long wait till I can insure and register it next week. Can’t wait. Now I have a road trip scoot. Making tentative plans to participate in the Lobster-Roll Ride on August 6th.

I plan to do a “classic” review of this scoot as the summer goes on with true speeds and mpgs for a 12 year old scooter. I’ll see you out there!
As always ride safe.

Thanks Mom, and thanks Brother.
Nice Ride!! Nice Pictures!! Have Fun!!
Happy Birthday Bro!
Sweet looking ride there! It definately looks like a Speeder Bike from ROTJ, and the dash looks like “Kit” from Knight Rider…
I can just here it talking to you now…”Michael…there are 3 armed Ewoks up ahead!” LOL!!
